Lost Icon

1 My internet connection icon (two little computers) has
disappeared from the bottom of my screen
NB: the little box is ticked to "show icon" in properties

and

2 cannot turn on firewall because ICS wont work

hope you can help

Is "Hide inactive icons" set in Taskbar Properties?
