Lost google suggest how do I get it back

Cindy

I made a big mistake and downloaded IE 8, which I hated. Now back to IE 7.
XP Sp3. When I went back to IE 7 I lost the dropdown box that Goggle was
giving me suggesting other sites. I have researched how to get it back but
I must be missing something, as I cannot get it to work.
How do I get the dropdown box back?
Thank you in advance
Cindy.

Err visually there's not much to choose from between IE7 and 8. What
exactly did you "hate" about IE8?

I downloaded IE 8, hated it, and went back to IE 7 XP SP3. IE 8 has so
much junk in it I will never use and it slowed down my computer. All I
want is e-mail, and to browse the net. Looks to me that IE 8 is for
teenagers with all the extra's that are on it.
Now my Goggle Query Suggestions search page does not function when you
type in you search.
I have gone to
Goggle Preferences - Query Suggestion - and checked - Provide query
suggestion in the search box - Save preferences. I have tried this a
couple of times and it is not working.
I would love to have it back but don't know what else to do.
Thank you in advance for any suggestions.

I can tell you that the reason I dropped IE8 is that it prevents some
software, such as ProTools, from launching.

I've removed it from all my systems at least until it's fixed.

The drop down was there.....I left the computer for a couple of hours.
Now the dropdown box is not working. My settings to use it are correct.
Any suggestions?

You really need to ask in an Internet Explorer newsgroup.

: Now the dropdown box is not working. My settings to use it are correct.

On the Google page, next to the box is the Preferences link. Click
Preferences.

At the bottom, is Query Suggestions - Provide or Do not provide. Make
your choice.

Click Save Preferences.

Restart your browser so the "did you restart your browser" question
doesn't have to be asked!

How's that?

Thank you Jose,
I did try that, 3 or 4 times. I have no idea why it didn't work. After
spending what seems hours researching how to get back the Goggle
suggestion Dropbox - I did a system restore from a couple of days ago. All
is now well!!!!!
Thank you

It is a Google thing, so if changing the Google preferences didn't do
it, there is a plan B, but sounds like you don't need it at the moment.
