Lost FTP Passwords

R

rcase34

Internet Explorer 6 used to let me save my ftp username and password
under my favorites. But suddenly it has lost all the passwords (I work
on a lot of websites) and it only remembers the username. When I
reenter the password it no longer allows me to tick 'save password' in
the login window. The 'save password' box is in grey now. What have I
done wrong? Any ideas? Its taken me ages to dig out everyone's
passwords and reenter them everytime I want to work on their sites.
Please help!

.... Go to Internet Options
.... Go to Content Tab
.... Click AutoComplete button
.... Click "Clear passwords"
... Click ok

Another great thing to do is Roboform toolbar. It is very good.

* To open Internet Options:
Click Start Menu > Control Panel > Internet Options
OR
Open IE > Tools > Internet options

Two things and only one of them is really any good. ;)

The first is open IE, click on tools, options, content, autocomplete, untick
the boxes to save stuff... (Yeah...) Click Okay... Then re-open it and then
tick 'em again and once again click okay. That usually resets it for MOST
people - I've heard of it not working.

The second is to head to http://www.snapfiles.com/ and head to the freeware
section and find a freeware FTP client. I don't recommend using IE for FTP,
it's just too bulky for all but the most basic of tasks, it has ISSUES with
setting things like permissions, etc etc etc... If you spend more than 5
minutes a year using FTP then a dedicated FTP client is the way to fly.
