lost files

I installed norton internet security 2004,and it did a
pre-scan of my computer before installation. Found some
infected files and asked if I wanted to delete them. Wish
I could go back to that point! Anyway, just about
anything i try to do now windows cannot find that
file.Examples, when I right click desktop to get to
properties windows cannot find rundll32.exe. When I try
system restore windows cannot find windows\system32
\rstrui.exe can somebody please help me?

Try booting from the CD-ROM with your Windows XP disc in

it. Once it finishes booting, go through the options to
repair the current installation of XP. Be sure not to do
a fresh install, which will wipe out everything. One
repair option requires a repair diskette, and another does
not.

When I put my XP disk in I get this message: Windows
cannot find D:|SETUP.EXE
