lost files on a CD??

When I copied a Word doc from my hard drive to a subfolder
on a CD-RW, the file name didn't appear in the CD's
subfolder list. But, when I tried to re-copy the file, I
got a message saying "copy error: file exists". A search
of the entire CD for the file name returned nothing. Then
I cut the existing files out of the CD subfolder and
pasted them into the main CD folder. They appeared. Then I
cut and pasted them back into the subfolder--and they
didn't appear!! A search of the entire CD returns no files
found. WHERE DID THESE FILES GO AND CAN THEY BE
RETRIEVED????

TIA to anyone with an answer.

I don't really don't know what you are doing, but you have to "Burn" files
to your CD Rom, unless you used packet writing which you did not mention.

But it sounds like you are saving/copying to some hard drive folder.

As you can clearly see, I'm not a techie and I'm not sure
what a packet writer is. I've always been able to drag and
drop files from my hard drive to the CD, but something
went way wrong this time.
