Lost files in Office Home and Student 2007

SharonQ

The last document I enter into Word is not being saved to my disk. The
others that I work on prior to the last one all appear to be on the disk. I
save the document multiple times while working on it but not even my first
draft is recoverable the next day. The file is listed in Recent Documents in
Word but when I go to retrieve it from the disk, it is gone. Does anyone have
any idea why the last file worked is not being saved to the disk? This is
very frustrating and any help would be GREATLY appreciated Thank you. Sharon

From "the disk"? Do you mean your hard drive or are you saving directly to
some sort of removeable media?

Did you open the file from an email attachment? If so, it is being saved to
at Temp folder. Instead of opening the attachment, save it to your document
folder before opening. At the very least, Save As to the document folder
immediately after opening.

The disk is a removeable media not my hard drive....

You should never save directly to, or work on a file on removable media. You
should always save the file to your hard drive, work on it, save it, close
it, and then copy it over to your removable media with Windows Explorer or
by burning it with your CD-burning software. Unfortunately this lesson may
well be too late for you.

Althought your file may be gone, at least you'll know the right way now.
That's a good thing. :)
