lost drives

Today, discovered that my D: (dvd) and e: (cd-rom) drives are not
functioning. They do not show up under "My Computer". But in the device
manager, there is a piece of information......Windows cannot load the device
driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code
39)...... After trying multiple times to uninstall and reinstall, update
drivers as the troubleshooting guide states, still have no luck. Any help
will be appreciated. Thanks

Similar thing happened to me over the weekend - I was using tools lik
EasyCleaner and BMX to tidy up the registry, plus I uninstalled a loa
of programs like Adobe Photoshop Elements. The following day I boote
my Toshiba up - no CD/DVD icon in My Computer and a yellow exclamatio
mark next to the device in device manager, saying that the driver wa
missing or corrupt (code 39). Tried uninstall/reinstall, but sam
end result. Read your post, ripped out the lowerfilters/upperfilter
keys for anything with the same {value} and restarted the pooter wit
bated breath. Phew - all is well again. Thanks v much!

I have multiple entries with this key in m
registry-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318
When I have removed values soecified in this articcle, my keyboard an
mouse stop working. It looks like some of the removed entrie
controlled keyboatrd and mouse. Som the question is :if I hav
multiple entries with the the same key in my registry, which valuesd
I remove

Sonias-I did the same thing and now I cannot use my mouse or my keyboard--how
did you get them to work again?

I'd really appreciate your response.
