a friend bought a copy of xp home from ebay. went to install it and now he
cant connect to the net. the error message states that there are no drivers
for the universal usb hub, which includes his ethernet card. its a emachine.
dont know what model number.
the other thing is his system now say he has 5 dvd drives . only came with
one. and some how another hard drive was added as well.

also, a baloon on the task bar is saying he can safely remove hardware. and
it is listing the 5 dvd drives, the hard drives, and assorted other things.

is there any way to get that system back to normal?
thanks. i hope i provided enought information here.

emachine's come with specific "restore" and "driver" CD's ... installing a
retail or OEM copy of XP would be VERY problematic as you can see.

you will have to route out the driver for your specific hardware and install
them maually.
