I lost the DMA mode for one of my CD drives. I have 2 CD
drives and they were both set to and running on DMA 2..now
one of it is only running on PIO mode, though it is set to
DMA. I don't know what happend..but is there a way to get
the DMA mode back?
thanks

I,ve already set it to DMA but only get PIO. I know it
should be able to run on DMA because it worked before and
also on my other windows versions on the same machine.

fixed it by removing the ide channel and let windows
reinstall it after reboot.
XP automatically (and permanently) drops optical drives
down to PIO mode if it encounters trouble reading or
writing a disc. Changing the DMA/PIO option in device
Manager won't help at that point.
