Lost connection, please help!

After I removed "bad stuff" using the problem, I lost
connection to Road Runner cable. I am running Win XP Pro
and my IP now is stuck at 169.254....., it seems a few
other people are also having the same problem, is there a
fix yet?

You guys probably have created a gap in your Winsock
chains. You were warned in the info provided in Realtime
protection info not to arbitrarily remove Winsoc chains.

You only solution is to restore with Sytem Backup if
you've made one in the recent past. Again a good
practice, always make System State backup when all is
well with your system regularly.

Another option is to do System Restore. Hope this tip
helps a lot you guys out there.

In the Microsoft Anti-Spyware software, go to Advanced Tools / System
Explorer / and in the networking section look at the winsock lsp's. It
should identify the bad ones. Remove them and you should get your
connection back.

Run 'netsh winsock reset' in the run box or from a
command prompt (if your running SP2) and that should
reset the Winsock.
