Lost CD Key for XP

M

Mike Harris

Hello. I purchased Win XP Professional edition for
Christmas of 2001, and I installed it right away, and let
my daughter use it. Any way, it crashed, got viruses, &
had to be re-installed. I reformatted the HD and went to
install it, and Uh-oh, no CD Key. I could not find it. I
do have the Box with Certificate of Authenticity tag, but
not the cd key number. What can I do short of buying
another copy of the OS? There must be an answer or do I
need to contact MS directly? Even there you need he
Product ID, which you get from an already installed
system. Ok? HELP

If you have the Windows XP CD(not a burned copy), you can just call
microsoft. They will ask you to read off some numbers off the disk, and
you'll get your key.

I know that works for most microsoft products.
