I had to perform a Format on another Drive which had a corrupt version of
windows ME.

I installed a new copy of XP home which went ok
the main drive that had XP home on it was a slave drive and was bootable
only when the corrupt drive with ME was present.

Now that it has XP on it and boots up into the new XP version ( includes
SP1 )

i cannot access the other XP to boot it up.

Can i possible make a boot log which will allow me to boot into the other
win XP??

please help

Hi,

I understand that after installing the Windows XP, you are unable to open
the previous installation of Windows XP on a different drive.

Please perform these steps and check if you are able to boot to both the
installations of Windows XP.

1. Right click on 'my computer' icon on desktop.
2. Choose properties.
3. Click on advanced tab.
4. Click on setting under startup and recovery
5. Click on edit button.

Copy the line under [operating systems] section, as below

multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP
Professional" /fastdetect
Paste it in the new line and make the following changes

[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Old"
/fastdetect

rdisk(1) section indicates to boot from slave drive and partition(1)
indicates first partition. You can change the line within double quotes to
some thing like "Windows XP Old" to make difference.

If you have changed the installation folder, please replace it with
'Windows'.

6. Save the file.
7. Reboot the system.

Now while booting please choose the second line 'Windows XP Old' and check
if you are able to boot to the previous installation of XP.

Do let us know the results.

Thank you,

Rashmi
