Lost all Windows Sounds!

First of all... no my sound card still works, I can still use WMP and hear
what I'm playing, I still get DXAudio sound.

But the problem is that.. it seems like literally ALL the sounds that fall
under the Sounds tab under Control Panel->Sounds are gone! I hear nothing at
all, no beeps from the messagebox, no messenger message alerts.. when I tap
the Volume slider, instead of getting the familiar DING, I get a PC Speaker
style BEEP!!!

And I don't remember doing anything that might have caused this! (do we
ever?)

Any ideas?

Well I did a system restore and that seems to have fixed it... duh...

Thanks for the help.
