Lost all my icons

After a reboot all of my desktop icons have disappeared
from my desktop. I have done a system restore but to no
avail. The icons still fail to appear. Everything appears
to load OK ie Scanner, printer etcbut none of my programs
including exporter my computer etc are there. There is
just a blank screen with my desktop wallpaper......
aaaaahhhhh. I have never seen or heard of this probelm
before. Can anyone help me with this issue.

Mike-check back thru the messages of the past few days-u will find a lot
