Lost Admin account on access mdw file

We just merged with a company and they have some access databases. No one
remembers the admin passwords for the workgroup security. Do I just cave in
and buy one of the security stripping utilities or is there another way
around this.

On the assumption that if they were so !@#$% to "forget" that password
they may not have remembered to apply security properly, you could
attempt to attack the security itself. For example perhaps an ordinary
user has more access than expected, or could add herself to the Admins
group.
Caving in is probably faster.
