Lost access to a CONTACT (whose info seems to not be totally lost)

In outlook 2003.

Was in Address Card View (not in Detailed Address Card View).

Had inadvertantly clicked the mouse---or something similar---on a particular
contact that was near the target contact address card (that I had wanted to
click-on re: opening the Detailed Card View. Something strange happened
though. The contact to which I had erroneously done 'something' completely
disappeared. Is no longer visible/accessible from Address Card View or any
other 'view.'

My first step re: effort to resolve this was to try and 'Search' for this
contact, but the Search generated no response.

My next step though was partially more successful--but only partially. What
I did was to go into my Inbox/SentMail folder to to a recent sent or rec'd
email to/from this contact that had disappeared---and then OPENED the email
and then clicked to the left of that contact's name---and then clicked on
Outlook Properties from the drop down menue that was generated----I was
instantly taken to the Detailed Accress Card View of that 'missing
contact'----and, in latter view, I was indeed able to access (via clicking on
the Activities tab) all the emails during the last year that I had sent/rec'd
from this contact.

This in turn does assure me that ALL info (contact info and related contact
activity info) re: this contact IS INDEED still present in the Outlook
database----which is wonderful----however, WHY DO I NOT LONGER HAVE DIRECT
VISIBILITY OF AND/OR DIRECT ACCESS TO SUCH CONTACT VIA ADDRESS CARD OR ANY
OTHER VIEW....and...WHAT CAN I DO TO GAIN THIS BACK....(and what do you
believe I had erroneously done to cause it to dissapear from view while
maintaining nonetheless its permanent presence in the database)????

Thank you for your help!!!

Thanks for your reply Chuck.

Yes, did check. Not there. (And, to make sure of things, after I rec'd your
response, I created a new test contact, deleted it, and then checked my
deleted folder, and YES, latter was there!) So, bottom line, I probably did
NOT delete it! What I exactly did though (when my hand had been on the
mouse), I do not know.

And, am most curious...in addition to seeking way to get it 'back'....to
learn WHERE INDEED all that info (w/ links to copies of old emails) is
presently residing...if indeed it's not being made avialable to me via
search, or via access to the 'contact name' which triggers linked database
docs????

My gratitude again for your interest in helping and your effort to aid me!!
