Lossing Network Connection

M

Matt Soukup

I have one Windows XP pc that can logon to the domain, but then loses total
network access after doing certain network things. For example I can connect
to the domain and browse files on a mapped drive from the domain controller
with no problem. I can login as a domain users and connect to the Exchange
server to download messages, but if I click Send/Receive I loose the network
connection. Other things also cause the network connection to fail. When the
network connection is lost I cannot ping anything, buy name or address. Also
other PCs do not get a response from this PC when pinging it. The computer
has to be restarted to gain access to the domain.

I have tried removing the PC from the domain and adding it back, this did no
good. It does not matter who you login to the pc as, any domain users lose
access.

If I login as the local Administrator with the computer joined to the domain
I can connect to an Exchange account on the Domain and Send/Receive to that
account. I have not lost the network connection yet when using a local
account.

Also once the network connection is lost you cannot shutdown the PC. It
starts to shutdown and just sits there. I assume that it is trying to
communicate with the domain server. Maybe I am not patient enough and it
would eventually shutdown.

when that happens, use ipconfig /all command line and post the result back here.

Being a domain user does not seem to matter. I tried to setup a local user
account to access the domain. I mapped a drive and connected a network
printer with no problem. When I went to setup Outlook for access to the
Exchange server I lost the network connection.
