Loss Of Keyboard During Setup

C

Chris

I inheirited the maintenance of an older server which has now suffered a
boot disk corruption. When I try to boot the server from the Win 2K server
diskettes all is OK until the message "Starting Windows 2000" appears. At
that point whatever driver is loaded it disables the keyboard entirely. The
server has an Intel R440LX MB with an 87307 super I/O chip (National I
believe). Can anyone give me any insite on resolving this problem?
Thanks.

Hi Chris,
Is this a PS/2 or USB keyboard?

1. Try pulling the keyboard and re-connecting (with the machine powered off)
2. Try another keyboard (PS/2, preferably)
3. Try booting into Safe Mode to see if the problem also exists there
4. Perform hardware diagnostics on the system board, to make sure the kb
port isn't faulty
