Ok... I am trying to install W2k Server on my IBM P2 400,
and when the computer starts up after formatting the
harddrive, it boots into windows 2000, and then you have
to press next(or something) and then it goes to detect
the keyboard and mouse. the keyboard worksup until the
50% mark, then it stops. the mouse works fine after it
is done, but the keyboard is not working.

I am supposed to input the computer name and after that
the CDKey... but i cant without the keyboard?

HELP?!

Hello Frustrated,

This post brings up a lot of questions.

1) What type of keyboard is it?
2) Is it USB or PS/2?
3) Is it enabled in the BIOS.

Try disabling the "Legacy USB Support" entry in your BIOS. If this entry
is already disabled try enabling it as part of your testing. I would also
try a different keyboard as a test.

Good Luck,

it is a genuine IBM computer, IBM keyboard, and a
Microsoft Optical USB mouse.

I got it to install, and what i did, if it makes any
sence, was i plugged in a basic PS/2 mouse, and took out
the USB mouse. It installed, but at the end, when it was
done installing, and it need more information again, like
the IP address and stuff, the keyboard stopped working,
AGAIN!

But i just kept on clicking by it, and i configured it
after i rebooted it.

So, it is all working now, but i am curoius on why it
wasn't in the first place. it makes no sence to me that
it worked up until it went to detect the mouse and
keyboard. OH WELL!

Frusterated.
