Loss of formating

C

Chris Watts

I find, from time-to-time, and for now apparent reason that some of my text
boxes reformat themselves.
In a few text boxes, the font changes from my standard of Arial to Times;
the colour changes, if red, to black; and sometimes the bullets and indents
are lost.

In one weird case I find that the identical text boxes (they were created
originally using cut & paste) on adjacent slides were affected differently -
one was unchanged, the other lost formatting!

Looking at the master slide I find all the styles set to Arial, although the
font box on the toolbar shows Times.

Just what is going on? Suggestions would be welcome.
I am using PPT97

TIA

No, that would be possible.
But how do I use it to set the default font controlled by the layout box on
the master slide?

Use Format > Font - which is probably what you did in the first place. I'm
thinking there is somthing quirky happening in your existing master that
would be most easily taken care of by creating a new master.

Thanks Sandy, I'll give it a try.
The original "template" (it is a corporate one) was created by people whom I
suspect do not really know what a template is!

That is, sadly, often the case. Good luck.

I haven't seen the color change problem, but the Arial to Times trick isn't all
that uncommon. It seems to be the result of some sort of corruption in the
slide itself. I've never heard of any solution other than re-creating the
slide (you could save time by copy/pasting the text to Notepad, then pasting
back into a new slide, rather than retyping all of it.)
