loss of autocomplete (or history) in address bar

About once a month (around the 27th - 30th of the month) my IE 'looses' the
auto complete in the address bar. I am not talking about inline auto
complete. I am taking about when you start to type something in the address
bar a list drops down of most likely addresses. Clearing the cache and
history have no effect on this pattern. It can not be a corrupted history
folder or index.dat unless they happen to become corrupted every month at
the end of the month.
An example might be say I visited tomshardware.com on the 15th of the May on
the first of June tomshardware.com might not auto complete in the address
bar yet it is still in the history.

Can anyone offer assistance?
