loss of administrative password

I have a good friend who passed away most recently. His
wife has called me and does not have the administrative
password to properly access his notebook computer. There
are banking files and informartion that she cannot access.
How can she restore or bypass the admin password to gain
access to the computer? This was her husbands personal
computer and he did not leave a trace of the admin
password. Is there a way?
