losing network connection

I'm running Win XP Pro on a Server 2003 network.
It boots fine, loads login script, see nw drives, works fine. After a few
minutes, I cant access the drives, lost internet connction. Cannot ping the
server.
We did have a power outage just prior to this problem.
I changed to IP to static, I'm having the same problem.
Any ideas? help....
