Losing internet connection when computer returns from sleep mode.

I've set my XP Home computer to turn off the monitor
after 1 hour, but nothing else. When I return to my
computer after that hour, I have to restart it in order
to use my DSL connection. Any thoughts on why this is?

I have been battling that problem for three weeks. I
bought a new NIC to match the router. I tried setting the
card so the computer would not cut it off. I tried LSP-Fix
and / or WinsockXPFIx recommended by Chuck no help. I
could leave Outlook running using the connection every few
minutes and it would stay connected. It was driving me
crazy. So last night I called d-link and talked to a guy
that said he knew exactly what was wrong. I said what is
that. He said I needed to reinstall XP Pro. I said to my
self I will do it later, but I got up at 2:00 am and
checked my connection and it was gone. So I reinstalled
and was through with all the updates and stuff by 5:00 am
this morning. My connection has been stable with the
monitor and hard drive set to turn off over 14 hours with
the computer idle most of the day. All I can say is it
worked for me. Good luck.
