Losing ICS after windows restart

I am using ICS for testing purposes, but the issue that I am running into is
that I will lose ICS after I restart. once I set it up every thing seems to
run normal until I restart the machine.

I have reinstalled windows and that seems to work but once again, once I set
up ICS and restart I will lose ICS.

any thoughts?

Please reply to this message in the news group (not by E-mail) with
more information to help other people understand the problem. We only
know as much as you tell us.

What does "lose ICS" mean? What exactly are you seeing? Is the
problem on the host computer or on the client computer?

when I restart the machine everything seems to be set the way I have set it.
ICS enabled on the NIC that is connected to the internet, and the IP
192.168.0.1 and 255.255.255.0 on the NIC connected to my internal network.
DHCP is enabled.

When I restart the machine the Client machine will not get a valid ip but a
169.xxx.xxx.xxx ip. This is when I know that ICS isn't going to work. The
Client machine is set to auto IP address.

I have tried to to give the client machine a Static ip of 192.168.0.2 with
the gateway of 192.168.0.1 and the subnet of 255.255.255.0, but this still
doesn't allow use to connect. We could bridge the two network adapters but
this would not serve the purpose that we need ICS.

I do have SP2 installed and have read that people are having some issues
with SP2 and ICS, but I don't think thats the issue. My computer is running
windows XP Pro and I am on a domain so I am unable to run the "network
wizard".

Thanks for the details. I'm sorry, but I still don't have enough
information to know what's wrong.

Microsoft says not to enable Internet Connection Sharing on an XP
computer in a domain. Here's what the Help and Support topic
"Internet Connection Sharing Overview" says:

You should not use this feature in an existing network with Windows
2000 Server domain controllers, DNS servers, gateways, DHCP
servers, or systems configured for static IP addresses.

Is there someone else who acts as a network administrator? If so, I
recommend consulting with that person.
