Everytime I reboot Windows XP (or go into "standby"), my
Home-Page URL is wiped out & replaced with: "http:///".
No matter how many times I go into "Tools" --> "Options"
and reselect a proper URL, the next reboot or standby
wipes it out. Does anyone know why this happens and how
to correct it? Thanks....

First eliminate any scumware.
See

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each need to be updated before every use, even when just
downloaded. There's also a lot more to do than just those two programs.
Especially see the Cool Web Search section:

If trying everything at that site does not fix the problem please post back
in the same thread.

Thanks Frank - I'll try your suggestions and come back to

Per 2/12 instruction from Frank Saunders, I've run the
latest versions of SpyBot and AdAware on multiple
occasions (always with latest updates) but unfortunately,
I still lose my Home Page URL on ReStart - it's ALWAYS
replaced by: "http:///".

I also heeded Frank's warning about CoolWebSearch and ran
CWShredder (by Merijn - (e-mail address removed)); the
results were: "Done! Your system was completely clean."

Could this problem be due to some factor other than
Spyware or malicious intrusion? I would be grateful for
additional suggestions from Frank or any other interested
party.

Thanks....

I'm guessing that you did not try other things on the site, especially
CWShredder.
