Loose connection to sever?

Post upgrades, users are experiencing a loggin problem,
they log on an get to the server fine, but then after a
random amount of time, when they try to go to server again
or they try to save again, they can't and instead they get
a Pop up log in window asking for username and password.
But if they put their username and password in it gets
denied. In fact after this happens they cannot even save
the document to the desktop of hard drive.
The problem can only be solved by fully logging off then
loggin on again.

It happens to random users, at random times, on random
computers. But is seems to be happening allot.
