Looking for suggestions: VB.NET Learning Project

G

Gene Hubert

I'm looking for a good coding project for the purpose of getting to
the point of feeling proficient in VB.NET programming. I've read a
few books, written several test apps, and have prior experience with
OO programming. I'm looking for something that might take around
10-20 hours a week over 2-3 months.

I have the VB.NET version that does not do web forms.

If someone knows of a client-server project specification available on
the internet I could probably adapt it. Does MS have anything like
this? Any other suggestions would be welcome.

Thanks,
Gene

check out www.rentacoder.com
you will find a community of folks doing small professional projects. You
can bid on a client server project (bidding fairly low) and explain to the
company that you are gaining in proficiency, and that's why the price is
low. You can probably work out an arrangement with someone.

Good luck,

You know... I'm going to go out on a limb here and say "dont tell them
that".

I do a lot of work on rentacoder, I'm pretty highly ranked, and have fixed a
lot of projects that people were "gaining proficiency" on... Like the
current one I'm on, I'm fixing someones 7000 dollar "gaining proficiency"
project that they completly fubar'ed

So I know my client isn't really happy that it cost him 7g's for someone
else to "learn"... And bidding low isn't the best idea either... Most
companies, want to have a good product the first time...

If your good, go there, make some extra cash... but don't sell out...
