Looking for Smart file renaming software

I'm looking for some software to rename files. Something fairly smart,

to where you can specify say for example, take all files in this
directory and it's subdirectories (excluding renaming folders) and
remove everything in the file names between [ and ] and/or change all
spaces to underscores _ . I have large numbers of files to rename and
am currently using Oscar's Renamer, which I love, especially for it's
macro feature ( which I use to rename files that are all basically the
same file name i just want formatted a little different), but I want
something more automated and quicker.

for anyone that's curious, i've found one program that does some of
those things. playing with it now, but dont think it quite meets my
requirements, but is useful.

http://sourceforge.net/projects/renameit

still looking for more though, going through sf now, didnt think of
that last time i searched for similar programs.

Thanks, i'll take a look at it later. Might have some more cool
features maybe~
The program i posted before actually seems to suit my needs best so far
(havent looked at this program yet) except for one part. Just took
some Regular Expressions, which i have never used before, so took some
learning. The one part that is wrong i may be able to take care of
with a little more REs, but i'm tired enough now, i'll just let it run
and fix anything else that's left later.

Thx for taking a peak into this for me ^^ if anyone else tries the
program i listed, be sure to learn about Regular Expressions before
passing it up as not suitable for your needs, i'm using about 7
different RE filters and it's doing everything i wanted it to.

I've been using BulkRenameUtility for ages now, and it's done
everything I've needed;
