Hi everyone,

I am looking for a movie player with a specific feature - one where if
you scroll with the mouse wheel, the next media file in the directory
is played (or the previous one if you scroll back the other way). I
know Zoom Player has this feature, and I have been using it for quite
a while, but it has a specific bug on my PC that probably won't be
fixed, so I am looking for a new player. IrfanView can play video
files I know (and I use it for my image files, and this is where I
first found out about the scroll wheel feature), but it's internal
video player is a little too limited in features for me. Anyone
suggest any others? I really like MPC (and in fact have it on my PC as
a backup to Zoom Player), but it doesn't have the scroll wheel feature
(the scroll wheel feature is the one feature that I can't do without
in a media player). BSPlayer looked ok too from what I tried of it,
but again, no scroll wheel feature (scroll wheel here just zooms in
and out, and there is no 'next file/previous file' to change it to.

At least here, it appears that 6.4.8.2 has this feature. Under the
View menu, choose Options. Under the Players section of the Options
window, select the Keys option. Scroll down to the Next command, and
then scroll over to the right to the Mouse column. You can select
Scrollwheel Down and Scrollwheel Up. I'm not sure how well it works,
but it does work here.

Hi dkg_ctc,

This is really weird - when I change that option to mousewheel up, it
makes my mousewheel change the volume control! Can any other users of
MPC check this out and see what happens on their PC? The key
description field (media_nexttrack) would indicate that it should be
the file it should be changing and not the volume...

Ok, I figured out why the volume changes. The mousewheel was also set
to the volume key. However, I still can't get the mousewheel (or any
other key), to go to the next/previous file :-(

Sorry, I don't have that problem here, and therefore can't help you.

The only thing I can think of is that in MPC, you need to add files to
a playlist before you can scroll through them. In Zoom Player, you
don't. The closest I've found to Zoom Player so far is FSPlayer. I'll
keep an eye on this one - it has promise. Weird interface, but very
effective once you start using it. I am surprised though that apart
from Zoom Player and FSPLayer, no media player seems to have this
scrolling feature.
