Howdy: Is there a sniping program out there to use on eBay? I've been
looking at Hammersnipe, http://hammertap.auctionstealer.com/home.cfm ,
which is an online service (free), but they want all the vital
statistics from me and I'm not sure that is cool.

I guess I don't really need one that works while my 'puter is off, so
thought there might be a stand-alone type program out there that I
could use.

Thanks.

What vital statistics, I don't remember any vital statistics.

Let's see: not only do you want to snipe (which is the lowest form of
trashy eBay behavior) but you want a program to do it automatically for
you, and you want it to be free?

Why not be honest, bid what you are willing to pay, and let the auction
process work the way it is supposed to?

Apparently you don't under stand the intricacies of bidding on eBay.

And who determines the lowest form of eBay behavior, you? Who died
and made you the God of eBay?

Yes, I want it to be freeware. That is the scope of this newsgroup,
isn't it?

I bid what I am willing to pay, but I need something that will bid for
me when I am sleeping or working. A lot of sellers are not considerate
of my schedule for the ending of their auctions! :)

I've always had good luck just using my "Enter" finger. I just never
bid until the last 6 or 7 seconds, and I make sure the current bid is
low enough that I stand a chance with my highest bid.

Strategy counts almost as much as getting the bid in at the exact
right second.

Then, again, my wife puts her best offer in as soon as she sees
something she wants at the right price, and she gets a lot too.

If many on ebay are sniping then rather than get outmaneuvered I
think you are right to use a sniping tool. Seems like rather a good
idea to me.

ISTR it is the same idea on old Kazaa and the user score. No need to
get defensive.
