I want to plug the earphone to pc, but switch sound output between
speaker or earphone by a software. Anyone help?

Ok here are your options:

because if your soundcard has 2 outputs, say line out and speakers... then
those 2 change simultainiously and cannot
be conntroled seperatly using software...

unless... your sound card is one of the new ones that has many outputs for a
home sound system with 5 speakers...
These have 3 output jacks, one for 2 front, one for 2 back and one for
subwoofer speakers.

If this is the case theoretically you can use software to isolate the sound
in the 2 front channels (speakers) or earphones (2 back channels). However I
never had such a card.. so I cant give you details...

another solution:

If you have 2 simple sound cards or usb earphones you can use a small
program to switch between the 2.

(when I say 2 sound cards, one could be the built in one from your
motherboard - if it has one)

This is the program you can switch between sound cards, or soundcard and usb
earphones:

hope this information helps

Thanks for the input first, I'm using a notebook... with its onboard
sound chip, internal speaker and my earphone (plugged into common audio
jack). Can I just use the program you suggested to make it work?

Let me described clearly, I want to make speaker output sound even if
the earphone is plugged. And only 1 object will output sound at the
same time, so this is the reason I need a switching.

Thx

as far as I know when you plug earphones into the jack of laptop the
speakers stop playing.
This is done by a connector inside the jack... like a microswitch imagine
it.
so you cannot so that....

A solution is to get external speakers (there are some small ones around)
and use a
Y splitter to make the one audio output to go to the speakers and earphones
at the same time

see this image for the connector.. these are really cheap
http://www.lindy.com/uk/productfolder/03/35/35530/index.php

however you cannot differenciate with software the 2 outputs. The only way
would be a
volume control on the speakers or headphones... (my speakers and headphones
have volume controls)
the volume control on the headset is on the wire.. see this image
http://reviews.cnet.com/AHP10_STEREO_HEADPHONE_VOLUME_CONTROL_W_CLIP/4505-6468_7-6751578.html

or you can get an extra volume control thingy, see here
http://www.compusa.com/products/product_info.asp?product_code=304453&pfp=BROWSE

but this solution will need you to turn the control with your finger.

If you need to control the sound totally electronically then you need USB
earphones,
that will give you a seperate audio device (see example pic)
http://sz-newtrend.en.alibaba.com/product/50037135/50763113/USB_Headphones/USB_headphone.html

or a usb sound card like this:
http://gallery2.jpmullan.com/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=382960

and then use that sound card switching software I told you about.
However in this case have in mind that you can have either one sound device
playing or the other

Hello,

I also don't think this is possible. You'll need hardware to do so.
If possible. I for myself bought a cheap USB soundcard (as big as
a small memory or bluetooth plug), which provides me sound for
my headphone. But it works as a second audio device, so I don't
know a player that can feed two devices the same time. It's more
for playing on one and prelisten on the other, DJ thing ;-)

Thorsten

Thx all replies! It's really a big help on both software and HARDWARE!
I will think which method is the most suitable for me then.
