I want to be able to set up a folder on my desktop and then add files or
programs into that folder, and simply be able to click on icon on desktop to
bring the files or programs list up without going to the search companion.
In other words how you have always been able to do in the previous versions.
It is driving me crazy to constantly have to go to the search companion and
then click on files and folders or click the folders icon on the toolbar.
Thank you for your assistance.

That should be the case already, unless you have selected to 'hide desktop icons'

rightclick the desk, 'arrange icons by', and put a check by "show desktop icons'

..

My show desktop icons is clicked on, the icons are showing up on my desktop,
I just want to be able to click on the icons and it bring up the windows
explorer window instead of the search results window with the search
companion showing in the left pane. It would be fine if it came up to the
search results window if the left pane would automatically open to the
folders window.

Thank You,
Michelle
