Long time during Log In (Appling Computer Setting) & Desktop Setup

Would like to know the reason for taking long time during Windows Log In
under (Appling Computer Setting)? It takes around 2-3 minutes!!!

Before it was very fast and only what I can see is (Appling your Personal
Setting).

On the other hand, still I am searching for a solution to Save the Desktop
Icons Setup, as every time I arrange them, next day at same time they
re-arranged automatically!!!

Thanks in advance.....

What changed between the time things worked and the time they didn't?
Possibly you had a network resource mapped that no longer exists and it is
timing out?

If this is a sudden change but you can't figure out what it is, you might
try a System Restore to when things were working. System Restore is best
used to reverse changes only a few days old.

uncheck the AUTO arrange for desktop icons.

delete the contents of the PREFETCH folder, just the contents not the folder and see if it helps the start up time.

the system will begin to rebuild it on reboot.
it is none destructive.

Malke,

All what I know is that if the Laptop connected to the Network at work and I
Log In, this is not happening but if I Log In and the Laptop not connected to
the Laptop, this is happening. But still sometimes I am not connected and it
is not happening!!!

Mikeyhsd,

The (Auto arrange) is unchecked.

Can you please advise what is the PREFETCH folder and where can I find it?

It sounds like you have a laptop that is a member of a domain at work and
the issue is that the machine is timing out when not connected to the DNS
server on the domain. If this is correct, speak to your systems
administrator about how they want you to use the laptop outside of work.

The same advice goes for the icons on the Desktop. If you can't change
things and this machine is a domain member, domain Group Policy may be
preventing you.
