Long Time Delay To Update NewsGroup

Greetings,

It takes my Forte Agent a little over 5 minutes to update this
newsgroup.

Does anyone know how to speed things up?

I would consider 5 minutes o.k. One question: Do you connect directly
to the Microsoft server or what news server do you use?

Hey Frank,

I connect directly to the Microsoft servers. I have about 125000
messages in this newsgroup on my machine. Yesterday Agent froze three
times while trying to update this group (I waited about 6 hours before
I gave up), it wasn't until today that I was able to get these latest
posts.

Something else is going on with my Excel as well. Sometimes I will be
entering data and the machine locks up for a minute or two.

My worksheet CommandButtons are losing their button size and font
size. Rebooting does not seem to help.

I receive over 1000 emails a day and Nortons is catching about 50
virus laden emails every time I down load my mail. Could something
have gotten through?

Any suggestions as to what to do to restore this machines efficiency
would be most welcome!!!
