long delay

if I type in an address int he address bar the page loads
but take a long while. However with the home page set to
google if I do a search for the page i typed in the
address bar and click on the search reslut the page loads
instantly. I have tried this with numerous sites to
verify that it is not a problem iwth a specific site.
I also installed another browser and they work fine.
I am wondering if this also is the reason that if I
double click on my computer it takes a long time to list
the drives.
The machine is running windows XP pro.

Keith,
Sounds like an Autocomplete problem. Delete your History folder. Windows
will create a new, empty folder on restart. See:

I had the exact same problem - a consistent 90 sec. delay. It was also
affecting Windows Explorer. This was a big hassle until I found the
following fix:
