Long delay in Folder/Properties display.

I have Win XP Pro, SP1, up-to-date with all patches.

I don't know what changed, but when I right-click a folder on the C
drive (even one with only a couple files in it) and choose properties,
it takes as long as a minute to show me the display. At that time it
begins adding up the file size totals, etc.

Any ideas what's going on here??
