After installing 2 Windows XP updates (ones they suggested
on 10/4/03) from Microsoft, The computer rebooted and now
XP won't load and gives me the following message "The
Logon User Interface DLL msgina.dll failed to load.
Contact your system administrator to replace the DLL or
restore the original dll. I have tried system restore and
it still gives me the same message. One time I was able
to start in safe mode, but not again. Please help!!

To fix the problem without losing data due to a reinstall,
you need to boot into a command line via recovery disk or
other means... You can go into recovery console with the
XP disk

Anyhow, you'll have to rename old files on the command
line and then copy new ones back from another dir- once
that is done, XP works as expected

1. Boot to Recovery Console using XP cd

2 . type the following commands

cd system32 [enter]

ren msgina.dll msgina.old

Now, use a floppy to copy the file from another system
running XP with the latest SP installed and copy it to
back to system 32 folder

3 Type EXIT and hit enter
