Logon to hidden user

I have hidden a couple of users from the Welcome screen; to log on to one of
these I type ctrl-alt-del twice and type the user name and password. This
method of logging in to them does not work, though, if there is already
someone logged on. Say, if I log on to the Guest account and then Start > Log
Off > Switch User, typing ctrl-alt-del doesn't do anything. Is there another
way to log onto these accounts while other users are logged on?

No; you can't switch user if the account doesn't show up in the welcome
screen. What you're trying to do is *log in* as a new user and I believe
you'd be logging the other user out, presuming you had admin rights & could
do so....

I don't recommend enabling Guest, by the way. There's a reason it's disabled
by default.

So, if I am logged into one of the hidden accounts and the screen saver comes
on while I have it set to "On resume, display Welcome screen" then there is
no way to get back to that user without restarting the computer and loosing
whatever was not saved?

Or, how about a tweak that will allow me to disable the Welcome screen while
still allowing "fast user switching"? Disabling the Welcome screen in the
User Accounts applet seems to also disable the "Use Fast User Switching"
option.

Yep, it does that. You can't use the one without the other. If you need this
functionality, you should probably 'unhide' your accounts. Just make sure
you use good passwords.

I have a similar problem. I changed my user account name and now I have lost
accsess to administration privileges. How can I undo this? Can I change it
back to the way it has been before? When I try to log on to my previous
account I can not because I do not know the password. Any clue?

Windows XP password is not very secure. Google the following words: recover
xp account password

You should find a number of free software downloads for recovering your
password. Maybe someone else has used one recently and will recommend it.
Or you might let us know what you find that works for you.
