Logon Script not running

P

Peter Loerns

I have the computers in my school seperated into OUs and depending
upon what Ou depends upon what printers are loaded on user logon. It
all seems to work fine except for a new printer that I have just put
into the library. It is the first 'Network' printer that runs from the
server rather than attached to a PC and shared. I Have created a
vbscript to load this printer and the script works when the computer
is logged on. I put this script into logon script location of the the
policy in sysvol, domain, policy, etc etc. not in the sysvol, scripts
location and it will not run. I have temprarily put a shortcut on the
students start menu for this script until I can fix it. Anyone know of
any reasons why it wont run when other scripts do. ??

the printer should be attached to the server and shared from there so it is
the print server, not clients going direct.

If I understand correctly what you are doing, you apply a
logon script through a GPO linked to a OU containing
computers. You shouldn't forget that logon scripts are a
user setting, not a computer setting. Without loopback
processing (which is a tricky thing to use), these
settings won't be applied based on computer membership of
the OU.

You have to use Loopback Processing for this to work....If
I am not mistaken there was an article in a recent MCP
magazine concerning this...
