I did a bunch of updates and after rebooting I now have a
logon screen. I didn't have this screen prior to these
updates and would like to get rid of this screen. I am
the only user of this computer. So, can someone tell me
how to stop the logon screen from coming up? Thanks in
advance for any help.... :)

This is because you installed the .net framework and probably didn't need
to.
If you use a password on your user account then download and install tweakui
for xp and use its auto-logon feature.

Or, if you don't use a password:

Start, run, type in: control userpasswords2, hit enter.

Uncheck: users must enter a user name and password to use this computer.
