After a few idle minutes, LogOn Screen appears showing #
of programs running, and requiring me to click on my User
Name to exit. How do I make this screen permanently
disappear?

Right click desktop, properties, screen saver tab, uncheck: on resume show
the welcome screen or on resume password protect.

Go to Control Panel - Display, and on the Screensaver page uncheck 'on
resume, password protect'
