Logon Locally to XP on Domain

S

scroto

I know this is a newsgroup for 2000 server but I'm using 2003 server.
I have a domain set up with another PC running XP Pro. This box is a
member of my domain. However, I cannot logon to this box with any
domain users unless I specifically add the users domain account to the
user account in control panel of the XP box. Isn't there a way to
allow all domain users to login to the XP computer?

If you successfully joined the XP Pro computer to the domain, and don't have
any local or domain policies that prevent domain users from logging on
locally, it should work fine as is. Have you set up policies that might
prevent logon?

I would like to add that the error message we're receiving
is that the Domain is not available.

Furthermore, only one specific User can login to the
Domain from (at least one) XP Box.

We've even added "Authenticated Users" to the "Power
Users" group on the local box.

Help!

We are having the same problem. We have NOT setup any Group Policy settings.

Any ideas?

Make sure your AD DNS is set up properly. All servers and workstations
should specify *only* the internal AD-integrated DNS server's IP address in
their network settings. The AD-integrated DNS server should be set up with
forwarders to your ISP's DNS servers for external resolution. See
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;300202 for more
info.

That was, indeed, the problem. Thanks.
