logon for laptop different than desktop

I have a 2003 AD domain and have a users logon script to map drives and
printers for them. For one user it maps a drive letter to his user folder as
\\X\johndoe fine from his XP SP2 desktop, but from his XP SP2 laptop it
says 'password or user name is invalid for \\x\johndoe. I have tried his
logon from another PC and it works fine; only the laptop seems to have a
problem. I have checked security and share permissions at the server and
they are correct. If I enter his logon and password the logon script maps
the drives correctly.

I have taken the laptop out of the domain, deleted the account and recreated
it but still the same result. Any ideas?

TIA, Larry

Tell the user to logon to his laptop and check for stored credentials. Tell
him to go to Control Panel/user accounts/his account - "manage my network
passwords" in the upper left hand corner and clear any entries that may
interfere. Also a persistent mapped drive with wrong credentials can cause a
problem. --- Steve
