I got a Windows XP Pro machine to join a Windows NT4
(patched to SP6a). It joins the domain OK. But I can not
access c$ share over the network. I can access is locally
through \\machine_name\c$.

So I checked the NTFS permissions on the local machine
nad the domain administrator and the local administrator
has Full Control.

What am I missing here?

Thanks a million.

could it have anything to do with the fact that the $
after the C makes it invisable, just a guess.

Hi Ty,

I am thinking otehrwise - because c$ share is one of the
administrative shares. Domain admin should have access to
it over the network, am I wrong?

Have you checked the network access permissions as well as the NTFS
ones? If they are set to only allow local users to connect to it, I
don't think you will be able to access it remotely.

Hi Max,

BUT, your thoughts made me to share the C: drive as a
new share (in addition to the C$). Well I can not access
that over the network either!!.

For some reason "Access this Computer from Network"
setting in the Local Secuirty Polcy has been disabled.
Once I put the Administartor up on this everything works
like a charm.

Thank you max, for jogging my brain!
