logon error

R

Ron

running W2K with TS in app mode. Separate domain
controller for validation. When trying to log a new user
into the terminal server through RDP an error comes up
that says: "windows cannot copy the file c:\documents
and settings\default user\application
data\microsoft\CLRsec.config v 1.1.4322
security.config.cch.13580.611454875 to location
c:\documents and settings\[username]...etc same as above.
followed by "access is denied". Contact your
administrator. A search of the above error reports
absolutely nothing. In essense, no new user can log on
to the terminal server because it can't create a new user
profile. Anyone got any ideas? Thanks in advance

Have you checked the permissions on both locations?
Users must have Read access to the Default User profile and Full
Control to their own profile.

The filename that you mention sounds weird. Are you sure that that
file should be in the Default User profile? Could it be corrupt? What
happens if you move that file out of the Default User profile? Does
the error disappear, or does it complain about another file?

Does the file listed in the error even exist? If it does,
check the permissions on it and make sure it matches the
permissions that other files in the profile have.

The username profile never gets created. I get the
error message on the first logon where it would create a
new profile for the user. It then says access denied and
closes the rdp client.

I found the filename. it is the 3rd file in the folder.
all other profiles have only the first 2. Windows will
not let me delete the file(sharing violation). Is there
a way to force the delete? Thanks for your help

A reboot seems necessary.
Have you any idea where this file comes from? Have you checked the
properties? Have you checked for virusses lately?
