Hello group
My problem is just recently one of my win2k servers has
been giving me an error message "Account logon failure:
The target account name is incorrect" when I try to
connect to a share using by typing the UNC from run. The
server is a DC. I want to repeat, the server was running
just fine up to the point when i began getting these
messages. I can ping the IP and computername just fine.
I can access the server thru terminal serves just fine.
Also, I can the server in network neighborhood, but when
i double click on the server, it gives that error
message. What is causing this and what can I do to fix
it. Please email with your response.

Thank you for help.

Check to see if the CrashOnAuditFail has kicked in, if so
only admins will be allowed to access the server but non
admins will not. Look in the registry in
HKLocalMachine|System|current control set|control|LSA and
look for the CrashOnAuditFail key it should be a Reg_Dword
with a value of 0 or 1. If it says Reg_None or has a
value greater than 1 then the CrashOnAuditFail has
occured. Delete the entry and recreate it, besure to
spell it correctly and give it a value of 0 or 1. Reboot
the server after this.
