Logitech Z680

I'm thinking about buying the Logitech Z680 speakers... I am relatively new
to PC sound. How are they? I have a fairly small room and i'd like to play
my Xbox, Computer and possibly just plain old tv if its possible. Will these
speakers do it? Also I have onboard sound and I know I need an upgrade.. i
dont want to get too expensive, just something that will be midrange. Any
recommendations. My boundary is about 100-150 dollars Canadian. I know this
isn't a speakers board but I didnt know where to ask this question. Thnx

I think the Z680s are generally well regarded as loud speakers. They are
probably good for gaming with powerful bass but I got the impression they
are rather less musical than some other options.

If you've got a setup with all your stuff in one room, I would suggest not
bothering with PC speakers and just getting a proper hifi system. For the
price of Z680s and a separate sound card, you could easily afford a decent
quality all in one system, or maybe even a 6-channel receiver plus speakers.
I was running this sort of system at uni, with a £150 Aiwa stereo. The
quality (and power) was better than with the creative labs speakers I've now
got now I have more than one room :)
