Logitech Wingman Formula

I have a Logitech Wingman Formula (NOT USB) Steering
Wheel and I cant get it to work under Windows XP. The
Logitech software says that they no longer support the
gameport under XP. I wrote to Logitech and they said it
only works under USB (very helpful). Can anyone help me?
If not I think I will have to mail my wheel back to
logitech and tell them to stick their wheel somewhere
uncomfortable!!!

I am unable to help you but i know your frustration - i have a Sidewinder
gamepad that is not USB and it will not work with xp - pretty stupid i think
that there own hardware devices don't even work with their operating
system!!! I now have to buy a new one and they aren't cheap!

Ashley and Wendy,
Both your devices should provide basic input funtionality by doing the
following.

1. Connect the device to the gameport
2. Start -> Run -> Control Panel
3. Switch to "Classic View".
4. Run the Gaming Options control
5. In Gaming Options Click the "Add..." button.
6. From the list choose "Microsoft SideWinder (Auto Detect)" (if your device
is from Logitech then choose the appropriate Logitech (Autodetect))
7. This should install your device.

Hope that helps.

If your Sidewinder gamepad has a gameport connection and you don't have a
gameport then there are two options. Both however require additional
hardware.

Op#1 - The Sidewinder controller is a rather old device, you can get USB
only controllers for less than $20 (and in alot of cases around $10) that
will give you all the funtionality of the old device and in a few cases even
give you some features you don't currently have, like button remapping.

Op#2 - Buy a sound card that has a gameport. This isn't a very optimal
solution but one that is available. Mostly because a sound card with a
decent gameport is probably going to run you more than a good USB
gamepad/joystick.
