when i start my computer i get a black screen with
username and password on it, it will not go to the
welcome screen. how do i get a password.the user name
says administrator. what do i do?

Try leaving the password blank.
 
Is this the old W2K screen you are seeing? Is this a BIOS password prompt?
Are you in Safe Mode? Has the Welcome Screen been disabled? Did you
recently install PCA, VPN Cisco Client, Netware, etc?
